Taka & Greg –
I’m interested in indigenous cultures and histories in general, but the lifestyle of the Tzotzil Mayan people in Chamula, Chiapas, has inspired me so much. Thanks to Rudy at Experiencias Chiapas (IG @chiapasexperiencias) we gained insight into how they maintain their original culture connected to nature, and how the Tzotzil Mayan people in Zinacantán coexist with their culture and Catholic religion. Their nature worship in Chamula is reminiscent of practices in my hometown of Japan, and I felt truly comfortable listening to Rudy. People are born and return to the air. Every moment sparked something in my brain, and my curiosity was piqued.
Rudy is a knowledgeable community supporter, familiar with the community, and advocates for the rights of women and children in the macho community. Thank you for allowing us to learn about your community and to experience the culture. We’ll definitely come back.
